Happy New Year!
The Smokin' Guns stand alone game is now released! Very Happy

It's a bit rougher around the edges than we had hoped and a few bugs couldn't be squished in time. And sadly, there is no Mac support at this time. However, making the game open source & releasing this version allows for new beginnings. If you happen to have Mac Crossover, I'm told that works fine.
You can find the files in our Downloads section.
We'll be posting mirrors HERE as they become available. I'll also be listing the known game servers in the Telegraph section of the forum.
For you coders out there, the source can be found HERE.
We're hoping to use the IoQ3 engine in the near future, so please keep that in mind before posting in the forum. Linux users should see this topic.

Slight delay...
Since when have we ever kept a proposed release date around here? I'm pretty sure the answer is NEVER. We're enthusiastic, but not always realistic. However, this time we were pretty darn close. Our new projected release date is 1/1/2009. Just need to wrap up a little problem or two. The Stand-Alone is almost here! On the plus side, it looks like a fan-favorite map will make it in time. Very Happy
Hit the POTW & check out a bit of artwork by our buddy DeUgli.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Happy Holidays!
Here's wishing everyone a very, Merry Christmas!

Our target release date for Smokin' Guns is 12/31/2008. Like I've said before, the stand-alone won't have everything we'd hoped for. But it will be a major release & our most significant in many regards. The code source will be open & we'll watch the horizon for fresh contributors to ride into town. Belly up to the bar pilgrim. High noon is almost upon us. Shocked

Website Snafu
If you weren't able to access the website the last few days, sorry about that. We had a little hiccup but it looks like we're back in business. Stay tuned as we are still trying to get the SA ready in time to beat the new year. Smile

The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly.

Our already small team has taken some heavy losses in the last few months. It's difficult to get everything done now even though we really haven't that much left to do. It's like trying to ride a worn out, 3 legged horse, uphill, without a saddle, with a posse on yer tail. Sad
Our loyal friend Pardner has really stepped up & taken an active role in the last month. His selfless contributions & enthusiasm are keeping me & the remaining dev team from losing faith. The Smokin' Guns game needs more people like this. Cool Also, our first test package went well with very few new bugs discovered. Most of these have been fixed.

When it's done!
I promised the stand alone in 2008 & so it shall be. We might be missing a very popular map (keeping my fingers crossed) & a few other things could likely be rough around the edges but I aim to keep my promise regardless. We need fresh blood around here & the only way to get it is to open the saloon & serve free beer.

We want to release in time for Christmas, but hope everyone will understand if we need to wait all the way up untill December 31, 2008 to squeeze in a last bit of goodness. Even if this release turns out to be a little less polished than the dev team dreamed of... it's still a giant step forward for the game in many ways. Stay tuned, for the time is near.

ATTENTION TESTERS!
We have a test package ready! Look in the "Stand-alone Testing" section of the forum for the download link & other important information. If you can't see that section of the forum then you aren't a tester. Razz

So, what does this mean for the general public? It means we have reached a milestone as far as the stand-alone project is concerned. But we won't be releasing the SA right away. There are still a few files that must be replaced, content that needs polishing, not to mention the bugs we'll likely encounter. Naturally, all of this will take some time. I promised the SA in 2008 & so you shall have it before 2009. That's all I can say. Stay tuned pilgrims! Very Happy

For the pic-o-the-week I've posted a screenshot of me & Tequila. We are the first to officially test the Stand-alone! Shocked

WE NOW HAVE THE MAC HELP WE NEED. MUCHAS GRACIAS TO EVERYONE WHO OFFERED THEIR SERVICES!

Testers Get Ready!
A test package of the stand alone is nearly ready! All of our testers should keep their eyes peeled since it could be ready in less than a week. Check back often! Shocked
I'd like to take this opportunity to give our good buddy Pardner a hearty pat on the back for donating his time to help with the project. He has really been a tremendous help to the team this last week or so. MUCHAS GRACIAS AMIGO! Cool
Speaking of Pardner, seems he put together a neat little fan film recently from footage captured on one of the beta 2.2 servers. I reckon' deathmatch can be pretty darn comical when you put the right music to it. Nifty idea using a stable camera throughout too. Now why didn't I think of that!?
